Lesson 2.2 : More on John 21:15-17
?
(If you just found this page through a search engine, it's best you start at the beginning - a very good place to start!)
Let's dig deeper in this.
We were just looking in the John 21 passage for repetitions and similarities - what I lump together as 'parallels'. Now let's expand that scope. What can you think of in other passages in the four gospel books - Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John - that might have things similar to what you see in this passage? Related to the central figures? If you have been going to church or Bible studies for a few years, you would probably be able to reply that. After all this disciple is known for his interactions with Jesus.
If you cannot, it's okay. That's why you're here: you want to learn and know more. Here's a way for you to dig and find the answer - especially with modern technologies. Fill in what you want to search for in the search box here (or at the top of each page below the main menu) - it will show the results in a new window:
So what did you find?
Did you look up the other passages? I hope you did because if not, you're just doing yourself a disservice. Learning this method is facilitated by doing. After you have searched and looked up the other passages, click here : done hide
In order to get into the setting of a passage, it's always good to think about what history the people shared together, their interactions, their relationship, promises, disappointments, bonding, etc.
